OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT
To ensure traceability and manage our distributed teams efficiently, RESA's fully integrated Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) drives, controls and archives all maintenance activities in a distributed renewable energy environment. This includes a register of all the (ab)normal activities which occur, reporting such activities and monitoring the mitigating actions that are to be performed by the operator or a third party.
The key factor in maintenance is prediction. Merging data from the CMMS with that of the SCADA System, normal preventive maintenance schedules are developed into predictive maintenance schedules. This secures optimum financial balance for the project between cost of maintenance, spare parts and loss of production.
While preventive maintenance is our focus, reactive maintenance remains a key service in the portfolio of RESA. This is achieved with a motivated team of experts providing a 24hrs fault response service.

Warranty Enforcement & Claims Management
Warranty management is of crucial importance to the Investor and the O&M contractor. Therefore all maintenance and repairs are performed to suppliers specifications so that warranties remain intact. RESA not only understands this importance but excels in maintaining key equipment, whilst accurate record keeping allows for the efficient resolutions of claims, leading to less downtime while keeping availability at a maximum.
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
With regard to the SCADA solutions RESA has significant programming knowledge and capability to integrate various SCADA applications for tracked CPV solar power plants which has been successfully used in over 100 Power plants in more than 20 Countries worldwide.
This platform has a high degree of flexibility allowing RESA to to analyse the performance of underlying power plants to further optimise its performance.
The SCADA system is further capable of performing energy management functions allowing for component integration such as storage devices to efficiently manage a power network. Part of the platform’s functions is an aggregate reporting environment.
Reporting
RESA takes pride in our capability to avail information and perform data analysis in all required forms as requested by the client. RESA focuses on the analysis of power plant KPI’s like Availability, Production Ratio and Performance Ratio, as well as Financial and Maintenance KPI’s. All activities are stored and executed online whether these are simple topics such as archiving or more complex topics such as the integration of information generated by our tools.
RESA has utilised various reporting platforms and will work alongside the client to consolidate data in automated reports and provide online real time information. This will be deployed through our in-house programming on a weekly and monthly basis as well as any special circumstance to report exclusion events.
Meteorological Services
With our leading partners, RESA provides solar irradiation, wind and weather forecasting. This information can be used to supply the power and energy production forecasting required by Eskom.
Furthermore, RESA offers additional services such as site audit’s, independent weather stations for site assessments as well as the development and audit of meteorological models.
Site AuthorityRESA, a prudent operator of the solar power plant, is the responsible contact and interface for all required authorities, utilities and possible visitors. This includes acting as a reliable link with Eskom for power production forecasting, outage planning and substation maintenance. In addition, close contact will be maintained with all relevant local authorities to monitor the stable permitting and if necessary reapplication process. To obtain full transparency of the activities on site, the operational team liaises and reports on a regular basis with the client and asset manager.
